What if… exploring gender equity potentials

This year’s edition is dedicated to the focus topic “Skilled labor supply, new work, and gender equity: a potential win-win”. In the 7th edition, we are exploring the potentials of a gender-equal set-up in the way we live and work to contribute to solving the challenges of today. Our 2023 study is based on analyzing close to 400,000 anonymized employees’ HR data, more than 147,000 in management positions, from over 100 Swiss companies and organizations. This is a unique data set in quantity and quality, corresponding to 7.6% of the Swiss workforce.

Skilled labor supply (vs shortage), new work, and gender equity – a potential win-win

The drying out labor market is one of the key challenges the Swiss economy needs to solve. Companies need to do more with the talents they already have. This means: developing diverse talents, improving employees’ work-life balance to increase  engagement, productivity and retention, and therefore making sure they can work how they work best. It also means sourcing for “hidden” potentials and looking to increase the (future) talent supply by building structures that enable all well-educated individuals to contribute and thrive in a career, irrespective of their gender and/or diverse background. 

Introducing the GIR key performance indicators

This year, we present the GIR key figures in a consolidated chapter in the full report as a recurring feature. This is a set of performance indicators in all career-relevant dimensions measuring the status quo of gender equity in Swiss business year by year. This lens allows us to evaluate the development over time, deep dive according to relevant challenges and derive targeted recommendations for business leaders, policy shapers, and managers as well as diverse employees. From now on, these key figures will be your constant companion through every year’s GIR. – Let’s fix the “leaky pipeline” together!
